February 2, 2010 in Utility (E)
[prMac.com] Vienna, Austria - CreativeBe today is pleased to announce the public beta release of Rucksack, an upcoming archive and file system utility. Designed by Apple Design Award Winner Dietmar Kerschner, Rucksack lets users open, create and convert archives, as well as split and combine files. Rucksack aims to make working with archives simple and accessible to non-technical users.
Keep it simple:
Philipp Mayerhofer, Chief Operational Officer at CreativeBe, says Rucksack aims to make working with archives as easy as possible, "Most archiving tools don't shield users from the technical complexities of working with archives. With Rucksack, they can simply drag and drop their files and let Rucksack do the hard work for them."
A fresh start:
Rucksack effectively brings together iArchiver and Slices, two of CreativeBe's products, into a single application. The COO is confident users will benefit from this merger, "Compressing and uncompressing archives often goes hand in hand with splitting and combining files, so offering a unified user experience makes sense."
* Smart drag and drop
* Encrypt and password-protect sensitive files
* Split and combine files
* Supports all popular archive formats including RAR, StuffIt, Zip, and 7zip
* Mac OS X Version 10.5 or higher
* Universal Binary for PowerPC and Intel
Pricing and Availability:
A public beta is available as a free download from the Rucksack website. The production release will become available in the next weeks, and a 10% discount is available for signing up to the newsletter on the Rucksack website.
