App Popular 1.2 Offers Users Free Access to Paid iPhone Apps

[prMac.com] Los Angeles, California - App Popular, LLC today is pleased to announce the release of App Popular 1.2, available as a free download exclusively from the iTunes App Store. The new version lets users access a "stream" of promotional codes from developers offering free access to use their paid iPhone applications. Users must have an iTunes account based in the United States to participate and promo codes are redeemed on a first come, first serve basis. By simply entering and confirming their email address from within the App Popular application, users will receive their unique code with redemption instructions.

iPhone developers may submit a minimum of five (5) US promotional codes for their paid applications and in exchange receive a week's placement in the App Popular "Promo Codes Stream" section free of charge. App placement will move from the top of the Stream down based on listing time. Version 1.2 also offers an alternative hybrid search engine that complements the normal App Store search results. Search can be accessed with one tap from the main menu and results may be refined using a flip screen price filter. Price range options in US dollars include: all, free, $0.99, $1.99-$4.99, $5.99-$9.99, $10.99 , or any combination. Additionally, the "My App Lists" section has been improved to allow for easier list viewing and alert badges have been added to "My Tracked Apps" to assist users with managing tracked apps experiencing recent price changes.

Created by John R. Haigh and developer Nikita Logachev, App Popular lets users easily browse any of the world's 77 App Stores by country and category, and includes social networking utilities to share apps via email, Facebook and Twitter. Users can create and share custom app lists, wish lists and lists featuring their favorite and least favorite apps. To promote favorites and help guide their network of colleagues, friends and family, users can add short comments to their app selections. At any time these lists can be edited, saved or shared. Default lists are "My Top Picks," "My Worst Picks" and "My Wishlist." App Popular also uses these member default lists to create "Top Member Picks" and "Most Wished For Apps".

App Popular utilizes Apple's iPhone OS 3.0 push notification service to help users track App Store price changes and save money. Push notifications are currently available only for apps downloadable worldwide. Additionally users can monitor the world rank an app currently holds in the Top 100 for any category/country combination and the data updates eight times daily. To alert users to deals and trends throughout the day, the application also offers a "What's Hot App Stream" to view price changes of currently ranked apps, new #1 rankings, apps entering and leaving the top 10 and the latest changes to the "Top Picks by Members". The stream currently tracks the United States & United Kingdom's (Free & Paid) "Top Overall," "Top Grossing, and "All Games" categories.
