April 21, 2010 in Publishing (F)
[prMac.com] Schaumburg, IL - Meadows Publishing Solutions today announced that they will be demonstrating a preview of the latest DesignMerge Pro Variable Data Printing software, including the new DesignMerge Image module, in booth #836 at the On Demand Expo, April 20-22, 2010 at the Philadelphia Convention Center. Included in the latest release of DesignMerge for Adobe InDesign are the following new featues:
GroupPicture - GroupPicture is a new software module that allows the user to create template blocks or "groups" that can be utilized as variable elements in a VDP job. Each group can itself contain variable elements, allowing complete control over the document layout. This unique feature is ideal for badges, coupons, ads, and any other block-oriented design element. The module is now included as a standard component of DesignMerge Pro.
Consecutive Numbering - DesignMerge now offers several built-in consecutive numbering features that allow numbering to be incorporated into any VDP job. All numbering values, including start/stop and pad characters, can be specified during the merge. This feature is ideal for tickets and other digital numbering applications.
Tagged Text Filter Support - DesignMerge variables are now able to directly support a number of "tagged" text formats, including Adobe Tags, RTF, HTML, and MPS Tags, a new Meadows tagged text format. This feature allows styling information to be embedded in database fields and merged by DesignMerge to control text color, style, and many other attributes.
Master Page Support - Full support for variable Master Pages is now standard with DesignMerge Pro. Master pages can be applied conditionally, and can now contain fully variable elements.
DesignMerge Image Module - The demonstration will include a preview of the new "DesignMerge Image" module, which is an optional integration feature that allows DesignMerge to work seamlessly with a number of Variable Image packages. Unlike other packages, DesignMerge permits operation in batch mode, allowing the variable images to be created offline, even on a separate workstation. At merge time, the DesignMerge preflight report will check for the availability of the variable images, and can automatically generate them if they do not exist. This approach is the most efficient way to produce large numbers of VDP documents utilizing variable images.
"The DesignMerge Image module is a fantastic way to connect Adobe InDesign VDP layouts to a variety of Variable Image packages", commented Meadows President, John Kriho. "As the markets for these applications evolve, DesignMerge customers will be able to capitalize on the opportunities presented by this emerging technology."
DesignMerge Pro is a set of plug-in modules that provide Adobe InDesign users with sophisticated variable data publishing, personalized printing, and document automation features. The modules work within the InDesign application, enabling professional mail-merge, variable data printing, and document automation features. The entire process is database-driven, completely flexible, and very easy to use.
DesignMerge can easily support variable text, picture, article, and even complete InDesign layouts and master pages. All of the features of Adobe InDesign are available when using DesignMerge software, so even advanced features such as variable type-on-a-curve are easily supported. DesignMerge also outputs the most popular variable data printing formats including PostScript, PPML, and Creo VPS. The product is fully compatible with systems offered by Canon, Xerox, HP, EFI, Ricoh, and Konica-Minolta, among others. For more information about DesignMerge technology, please visit them online.
