Innovative non-profit is changing the way kids interact with the world

[prMac.com] Charlottesville, Virginia - With the advent of 24-hour news and the Internet, young students are very aware of the world around them and of the many issues that affect society and mankind. Many of these "very aware" students also realize that they do not have to be simple bystanders in the world and choose to be active participants. However, it is not always obvious how a student can help change things and go about helping others - until now. Kids Are Heroes is the organization that gives students the infrastructure and support to pick a cause that interests them and to set into motion a plan that makes a positive difference.

The Kids Are Heroes community pools resources, ideas, and people to highlight issues such as saving and protecting horses, raising money for cancer research, helping the victims of the Haitian earthquake, and assisting the homeless. Each cause is fueled by the passions of a young person and the community helps them spread the word throughout the globe. With an international Twitter following of over 20,000 and 2000 active Facebook fans, the Kids Are Heroes community spotlights an issue, raises money, boosts awareness, and spurs others into action. Students also understand that there is strength in numbers, and Kids Are Heroes is actively harnessing and channeling that strength.

School is a very important part of students' lives, and Kids Are Heroes works with schools to develop social awareness within the learning process. Understanding science and history is one thing; using that knowledge for good requires the ability to communicate and to influence others. To that end, Kids Are Heroes has partnered with the Niles Technology Group to promote the use of technology in education and to advance the cause of learning to write and communicate well.

The Niles Technology Group is the creator of the Achievers Writing Center line of iPod, iPhone, and iPad essay writing mobile apps. In an effort to promote the incorporation of educational mobile technology in the classroom, the Mobile Writing Project was developed. The Mobile Writing Project is a program that donates iPods and iPads to schools and student-focused non-profit organizations. Kids Are Heroes is the current beneficiary and is helping the Mobile Writing Project distribute iPods and iPads to schools. It is our joint goal for this technology to help students understand the importance of writing well, but also to use the technology to further promote the causes of the Kids Are Heroes community.

Together, Kids Are Heroes and the Niles Technology Group aim to further the skills of students to influence others for the better and to assist schools in being the best that they can be. If you are an administrator or teacher and believe that your school can benefit from the Mobile Writing Project, please contact either Kids Are Heroes or the Niles Technology Group for further information.

Niles Technology Group was founded in 2007 to develop software for emerging technologies and is developing a series of mobile computing applications dedicated to teaching superior writing and logical thinking skills. With its experience in the technology and content required to develop full-featured products for students, Niles Technology Group is already in the top 25 of all iPhone app publishers and the Achievers Writing Center and Essay Writing Wizard apps have sold successfully worldwide. The key to Niles Technology Group's success is specificity. Each app is specific to the writing task at hand. Michael A. Niles, the founder, was formerly, for eight years, the President and CEO of The Right Education, Inc. (TRE), a web-based educational technology company that developed The Learning Accelerator. He looks forward to continuing to bring top-line education products to the mobile computing marketplace. Copyright (C) 2007-2009 Niles Technology Group. All Rights Reserved.
