in iAnnouncements (F)

[] Moscow, Russian Federation - ABBYY, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and language software, announced the availability of ABBYY Business Card Reader 2.0 for iPhone(R), a new version of its on-device application for capture and processing of contact information. This version has been enhanced with a range of smart new features based on user feedback to make work with the application even easier and more enjoyable. With the added support for Greek, the application can now read text in 17 languages.

ABBYY Business Card Reader for the iPhone automatically transfers contact data (names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, etc.) from business cards directly to the iPhone address book by using the device's camera and its own text recognition technology. It then accurately saves each type of contact information into the proper data field. Version 2.0 can identify the first and the last name when processing photos of business cards and save them separately. This improves organization of data in the address book and makes contact search easier and faster.

The program now also saves separately a postal code, city and country to the designated fields of the address book making the data suitable for further use in search applications and other contact management systems. In addition, the new version accurately brings text printed in capital letters to a standard form removing capitalization and saving users from the necessity to edit it manually.

The new version further streamlines the process of inputting contact information. It now provides a shorter, more straightforward route from the initial step of taking picture of a business card to saving the resulting data in the address book. In the photographing mode, the application now offers larger, full-screen capture area to support more convenient, horizontally-oriented view of a business card. This ensures better quality of the photographed image and, as a result, higher accuracy of text recognition.
