[prMac.com] Tokyo, Japan - Sunrise Telephone Systems KK today announced the 2010 edition of its A4M Macintosh Telephone System based on a Mac OS X port of the Asterisk Linux PBX software. The A4M software suite turns a Macintosh computer running Mac OS X (10.5 and 10.6) into a feature rich private branch exchange (PBX) telephone system and Voice over IP (VoIP) server. An optional ISDN adapter provides connectivity to ISDN telephone lines.
The 2010 edition consists of a telephony server, an auto-starter, a configuration engine, several system preference panes and a switchboard application. The Cocoa GUI based preference panes are designed to make the task of configuring the telephony server easy and intuitive, following the philosophy of ease of use of the Macintosh platform. A complete set of screenshots is available on the company's website.
The software will be supported on all Macintosh computers running Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard" (Intel and PPC) or Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" (Intel only) with at least 512 MBytes of system memory.
Pricing and Availability:
The software will become available first for the Japanese market in late November, early December 2010 for a retail price of 49,800 JPY (ca. 579 USD) without ISDN adapter and 78,600 JPY (ca. 914 USD) with ISDN adapter. The user interface is localised in both English and Japanese. International versions will become available in early 2011. The exchange rate used in this release was 86 Japanese yen to 1 US dollar.
The company also announced that it has ceased all development of free GUI tools for the Macintosh PBX software due to lack of sponsorships and donations. All previously available free GUI tools for Asterisk on Mac OS X will no longer be available for download.
