[prMac.com] London, United Kingdom - HistoryTools 1.5.2, a new free iPad and iPhone app that displays a day-by-day calendar of historical events, the births and deaths of the most famous people in history, feast days of the saints, and world holidays, is now available from the App Store on iTunes. Users are able to add their own personal entries to the program.
The app contains a 14.2 MB database with over 5,700 events, 6,200 birthdays, 4,000 deaths and 600 date-specific holidays. The entire database is available offline without a Wi-Fi or GPS connection.
HistoryTools helps kick-start ideas for writers and is a great aid to students who wish to convince their teachers that they are among the smartest and most interesting in the class. It is a godsend to journalists, speechwriters, copywriters and PR professionals looking for an interesting way to start an article or speech, and a source of facts, factoids and trivia useful to any writer.
The app is fully searchable both by words or particular years. One can, for instance, discover dozens of major accomplishments of women and the black community by searching for the words ‘first woman’ or ‘first black.’ One can view births, deaths and events that happened in 1893 by simply entering that year in the search field.
The App can also be used as a diary to save one’s own events and important dates whether it be family birthdays and anniversaries or events in history of special interest to the user. The App can be searched for one’s own entries and they are automatically incorporated into the pages of each day of the year.
Created and kept up-to-date by Larry Belling, an American writer based in London, HistoryTools comes from his award-winning Writer's Dreamtools website which also includes a slang thesaurus, a cultural history organized by decades going back to the 1650s, a dictionary of clichés and catch phrases with 18,000 entries, a huge collection of lists of people, places and things, an anthology of humorous quotations, and an assortment of classic internet humor articles. The App has been built with the assistance of Engine Room Apps of Leeds in England. The website was designed by Vakart.
