[prMac.com] New York, NY - FT Press Delivers today announced the availability of a new application on LinkedIn, providing more than 80 million members across the globe with access to an e-Store app designed to help them manage their businesses and careers. FT Press Delivers is the first publisher to launch an application on LinkedIn.
The electronic business publishing imprint from FT Press, FT Press Delivers fits well with the LinkedIn demographic- time-challenged professionals looking for business and career-related advice that can help them solve daily problems. FT Press Delivers provides essential insights from leading business thinkers, including Ken Blanchard, Jim Champy, CK Prahalad, Brian Solis, Mark Zandi, Jon M. Huntsman, John Kao, Michael Abrashoff, Carolyn Kepcher and Seth Goldman.
The new app allows users to view and purchase FT Press Delivers e-content, Elements and Shorts, from an e-Store on LinkedIn. Elements focus on one simple idea related to work and life, offering expert perspectives and solutions in fewer than 1,000 words. Shorts, between 4000-5000 words, are longer pieces covering key business topics or lessons learned from business thinkers and leaders, and are published in partnership with New Word City. New Word City contributes 10 percent of its profits to literacy causes.
The app also offers users "tips of the week," alerting them to new reading material and providing the ability to house the material on their "E-bookshelf." Users can keep track of what they are reading or planning to read via their "reading list," or consult Top 10 reading lists to learn about new material that might be of interest to them. And if a user really likes a piece, he/she can recommend the piece to all of his/her colleagues in his/her network.
* All Elements and Shorts are priced under $1.99, depending on how many credits the user purchases in the app at a time
* New users receive "credits" that allow them to purchase Elements and Shorts for free when accessing the app for the first time
* 306 Elements and Shorts are currently available, increasing to a total of 500 by the end of 2010, and longer form content will be available by year end
* Business insights and career tips are offered to FT Press Delivers app users via weekly alerts
* Users can connect to the app via laptops, home computers or iPads
