MYStuff updated to 1.5 with new interface, support for all file types
November 24, 2010 in Software
[prMac.com] Columbus, Ohio - Minder Softworks today updated MYStuff to version 1.5 with a revised user interface, and also adds support for all file types. MYStuff is designed to be a "stuff manager", combining the best features of home inventory programs, warranty trackers, and PDF managers. Its power lies in its flexibility to allow users to organize any type of items they want to track. MYStuff can be used to inventory a home, a business, a wine cellar, or any type of collection.
"Other home inventory programs force you to inventory things room by room," says developer Mike LaMorte. "Life is messy. Everything in life doesn't easily fit into nice neat little pre-defined compartments. MYStuff addresses this by being more flexible than any other similar program. MYStuff allows the user to figure out what makes sense to them: organize by location, organize by category, or organize by both. You can be as fine-grained or as flexible as you want. You can use MYStuff to keep track of auto records as easily as you can use it to manage a wine cellar, a collection of bobbleheads, or inventory your home, business, or rental property. And to help the user get in the habit of keeping track of their information, MYStuff makes it easy to get information into - and out of - the program."
MYStuff makes it easy to file and find information about things you own. You simply make a new record, and enter important information about the item. Then you can add an unlimited number of files to the record: a scan of the receipt, photos of the item, a PDF of the manual, audio, video, spreadsheets, and anything else you would like to add. To make this process easier, MYStuff's MYInbox feature allows users to quickly add files to MYStuff from other applications such as scanners.
MYStuff 1.5's biggest new feature is the ability to handle any file types. In addition to supporting images and PDFs as in previous versions, MYStuff 1.5 allows users to add any file type, including audio, video, and office files. Images, PDFs, audio, and video files are displayed within MYStuff; all other files have a QuickLook preview displayed and are able to be opened with one click.
This update also has a revised, more attractive user interface that is more usable on smaller screen sizes.
In addition to these new features, MYStuff has always allowed you to easily back up your data, print lists for insurance claims, and view your records as lists or as images. MYStuff also imports CSV data from other popular applications.
MYStuff also keeps track of manufacturer's warranties and extended warranties. Every year, people throw away countless products that are still covered by a warranty. Most often, they are unaware that the product is still under warranty because they cannot find the receipt and warranty information from the time of purchase, which may have been a year ago or maybe ten years ago. As a result, they replace an item that could have been repaired for free, thus costing them money. Keeping important paperwork organized is a tremendous amount of work, which explains why so few people do it. MYStuff helps users file and find their information quickly and easily, saving them both time and money.
This release coincides with a $10 off promotion through November 30th. Enter the promo code "GIVETHANKS" at checkout for the discount.
MYStuff will run on any Intel or PowerPC Mac running OS X 10.5.8 or later, including Snow Leopard. A minimum screen resolution of 1280 x 800 is also required.
