[prMac.com] Seattle, Washington - Christmas ELF (electric light finder) is a free holiday light mapping app for the iPhone. The application relies on its users to "tag" locations in their area that have Christmas lights on display. Once somebody has identified a new and unique location, a colored pin will be added to the map for everyone to see. Click on the pin, and a star rating will popup with the option to upvote or downvote the light display. The colored pins will change between green and red depending on their current star rating.
This app uses GPS to accurately pinpoint the users current location and will show all tagged light displays within the mileage (1-100 mi.) specified on the settings page. Results can be filtered further by setting a minimum rating so only the best, or worst, Christmas light displays show up. Since a connection to the internet is needed to constantly refresh the map and add new locations, an iPhone provides the best user experience. An iPod touch will also work but users will not be able to "tag" locations and will have to load the maps while they have access to the internet.
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
