[prMac.com] Bloomington, Illinois - Chimp Studios today is pleased to announce the release of Light Quest 1.0, an adventure/puzzle game immediately available in the new Mac App Store. Light Quest puts players in a lowly constructo-bot's hover shoes on a mysterious alien world. In order to return home, players will have to guide a laser beam through 15 hand-crafted 3D levels using only mirrors, beam splitters, ingenuity, and what they find along the way.
The game begins with the robot, LQ, running out of fuel and crash landing. His only hope is an old, abandoned laser refueling station on the horizon. "We really wanted to make LQ somebody whom players could empathize with," said developer Shae Trumpy. "Running out of gas and getting stranded has happened to everybody, or at the very least been a concern for most motorists at some point." Throughout Light Quest, Chimp Studios has strived to create an enigmatic atmosphere through visuals and audio.
Developer Andrew Schenk was thrilled to sign on the musical talents of Harry Mack. "Harry has worked on some great games like Braid and Defense of the Oasis, so we were excited to hear what he would bring to Light Quest," said Schenk. The game features five original music tracks that range from subtle sci-fi / Native American blends to stomping industrial scores. "I think that he did a great job, and the music adds to the overall vibe of being lost and alone."
Key features of the game include:
* 10 hours of gameplay across 3 different areas
* 15 levels with 3 at night
* 5 engaging music scores
* 1 gripping mystery to be solved
