OWC To Offer Upgrade And Data Protection Advise At The Northwest Of Us

[prMac.com] Palatine, Illinois - Our special guests at the February 12th meeting of The Northwest of Us will be Other World Computing. OWC is a leader in the industry offering timely advise on upgrading your computers hardware and software.

Topics for the February 12th presentation at The Northwest of Us include:

Session 1: Upgrading My Mac Desktop and Laptop
This session will discuss and show the various options available to improve the performance of your Mac by increasing the RAM memory or your hard drive. It will also explore some new technologies such as Solid State Drives (SSD) to speed-up the booting process and different configurations that can renew your laptop and desktop Mac operation.

Session 2: Protecting Your Data
This session will discuss some of the different hardware solutions to protect you data against accidental loss. The solutions include external hard drives to backup data, RAID drives to backup and copy the data on multiple drives to protect against hardware failure, and network solutions, including upgrading Time Capsule, with replaceable redundant drives and Networked Attached Storage (NAS), which provides secure backup and allows file sharing for all computers in your house/business.

This Macintosh Users Group offers help for users of all levels from beginner to advanced. Special interest groups are available on selected topics. Several workshops are planned for 2011 and are open to the public.
