[prMac.com] Amsterdam, The Netherlands - Pico and Sofa today announced the release of the highly anticipated Public Beta of Versions, a new Subversion client for the Mac. Development of Versions took longer than intended, but the beta is now available as a free download from their website.
Versions offers various ways to make dealing with Subversion easier and more efficient. The Timeline view shows recent changesets, complete with commit log notes and a full list of changed files. Users can click any modified file in the timeline to get a diff with the previous version. The Browse view comes with several additional tools to dig in to the history of any versioned file or folder.
Versions works with all SVN protocols and unlike other Mac SVN clients, supports svn+ssh:// connections without needing SSH key pairs to be created first. Because Versions is built on top of libsvn and integrates neatly with the Mac OS X keychain, secure and reliable connections are easy to set up for an entire team.
In collaboration with Beanstalk, Versions offers its users the possibility to get a free Online Repository from within Versions, making it easy to get started with SVN. More information can be found on their official website.
