[prMac.com] Houston, Texas - Lightsphere LLC is pleased to announce the availability of Cryptoku 1.1, a fast-paced number game for the iPhone and iPod touch. Sudoku players will recognize the core game mechanic: each number can only appear once in the 3x3 grid. But unlike Sudoku, the numbers descend from the top of the screen, changing as they fall. Players tap to capture a number, then drop it into the grid. As the game progresses, the numbers fall faster and more frequently.
Cryptoku's theme draws from the world of Unix and computer hacking, and the green-on-black graphics suggest an old green-screen computer terminal. The premise: you're hacking into a computer system, and each level is a numeric pass code. White key numbers (set by the system) give you a starting point for solving the puzzle. Green boxes are ciphers that you have to solve yourself. As you place numbers into the grid, their color changes to indicate whether they're correct (green), one digit off (yellow), or wrong (red).
As you solve levels and get further into the system, the challenges get harder:
* Some falling numbers count backwards ... or skip digits
* /tmp numbers fade away
* Rotating keys change out their solution with another number in the grid
* Viruses infect neighboring numbers
Cryptoku has a color-blind mode, so players that have trouble distinguishing the red/green/yellow color changes can play by symbol rather than color.
Cryptoku is available in both lite and full versions. The full version has two game types:
* Crypto, which is longer and suitable for all skill levels
* Hack, a sudden-death game that starts tougher and can end much quicker
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 3.1.3 or later (iOS 4.0 Tested)
* 13.8 MB
Pricing and Availability:
Cryptoku 1.1 is only $0.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category. The full version also features Game Center leaderboards for both Crypto and Hack games.
