Vitamin-R 1.54 features customizable workflows
March 9, 2011 in Mac OSX
[prMac.com] Luxembourg City, Luxembourg - publicspace.net today is pleased to announce version 1.54 of Vitamin-R, its productivity tool for creative professionals. Vitamin-R is a collection of tools and techniques designed to overcome the biggest productivity challenges facing today's creative professional: managing attention and maintaining motivation. This latest release allows customers to tailor the product's workflow to suit their own requirements and preferences.
The new custom workflow feature supports skipping workflow steps that the customer does not use, provide default values for skipped interactive steps and pre-determine behaviors that would usually require interactive selections. In this manner, customers can easily customize the workflow to, for instance, always have fixed length time slice durations, to always extend time slices whose objective were not completed, etc.
This new feature is certain to be a hit with a growing community of users who are using Vitamin-R to implement the "Pomodoro Technique" which prescribes standard values and choices for many of the parameters that Vitamin-R allows users to determine interactively.
Vitamin-R breaks down large, vaguely defined tasks into a series of short "time slices" of between 10 and 30 minutes, each with specific, easily reachable and actionable objectives. The objective, time frame, concentration level and completion status of each time slice is logged automatically to the user log. Furthermore, the Vitamin-R Log Book also maintain hyperlinks to tasks in Cultured Code's Things and OmniGroup's OmniFocus to do list managers.
During a time slice Vitamin-R keeps you focused on accomplishing only this one objective and provides you with mechanisms for dealing with interruptions, poor concentration, etc.
Vitamin-R concentrates on getting started which allows you to break through the resistance of procrastination and creates a positive feedback loop of small achievements that get you closer to your ultimate aims. This greatly reduces the stress caused by looming deadlines and a lack of a clear direction, thus enabling you to enjoy guilt-free breaks in which you can pursue other interests.
Vitamin-R provides you with the "Now & Later Board", complete with FastType magic, to give you a place to quickly dump all those things that go through your head and allows to get back to the task at hand.
While Vitamin-R assists you in getting on with your work, it also keeps a customizable record of your progress that can help you detect positive, os well as negative work patterns thus allowing you find the way that suits you best.
Vitamin-R plugs into your life rather than trying to take it over. You can use it occasionally to overcome procrastination or mental blocks or re-organize your entire working life around the concepts that it embodies. It integrates with rather than trying to replace traditional to-do list managers, such as Things or OmniFocus.
