[prMac.com] New York, New York - Teach Me Sushi, provider of hands-on sushi making lessons throughout the New York area, has announced the availability of its new instructional sushi app for iPad. Teach Me Sushi iPad offers engaging video lessons, helpful features and tools that make it fun and easy to create sushi at home.
The new iPad app builds upon the success of the company's popular iPhone applications, Teach Me Sushi and Teach Me Sushi Expert, which garnered acclaim with positions on the App Store's "New and Noteworthy" and "What's Hot" lists. The iPhone apps have gained fans worldwide, with the original Teach Me Sushi release also earning the coveted title of "App of the Week" in the U.K. App Store.
Teach Me Sushi iPad combines all of the elements offered in the iPhone editions into one comprehensive, dynamic app. Co-developers Drew Lavyne of filmmaking company Six Minute Stories and Jake Davidow, trained sushi chef and Teach Me Sushi founder, were eager to translate their successful iPhone apps to iPad.
"The iPad is such an experiential technology," said Lavyne. "We felt that it really lent itself to our content and opened up new presentation possibilities. For example, we were able to incorporate over 300 amazing new photos into this release. The iPad's high-resolution screen really does them justice- it's like a plate of fully-prepared sushi sitting right in front of you."
Teach Me Sushi iPad offers over 15 easy-to-follow demonstrational videos and step-by-step photo guides that detail how to create sushi dishes ranging from basic to advanced. Paired with the convenience and control of having all of the necessary elements on one's iPad, these features enable the user to follow along and work at his or her own pace. The app also includes multi-tasking support for seamless switching between supported apps and devices, as well as a shopping list tool that automatically calculates how much of each ingredient is needed based on the amount of people the user is serving. Other features include:
* Equipment lists
* Built-in rice timer and clearly defined cooking instructions
* Map, based on user's location, showing where the nearest Japanese markets are located
* FAQ video providing answers to common questions
"The great thing about the app format is all of the innovative tools and elements that we are able to offer," said Davidow. "If we were writing a cookbook or making a DVD, we wouldn't be able to include things like the rice timer or the map tool. The iPad app really enables us to ensure that our users have everything they need at their fingertips."
* Compatible with iPad
* Requires iOS 4.0 or later
* 914 MB
Pricing and Availability:
Teach Me Sushi iPad 1.0 is only $8.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Lifestyle category.
