[prMac.com] San Francisco, CA - Flashforward Conference and Film Festival announced two community building events at Flashforward2008 taking place in San Francisco August 20-22, 2008. The opening celebration on August 20th takes place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, including the 'Zeum, where people of all ages and skill levels use their imagination to create, explore and produce digital media. The Flashforward Film Festival after party takes place at Ruby Skye featuring the band, Lyrics Born, and music by DJ Solomon, delivering two unique North American performances.
On August 20th, Flashforward attendees will have access to the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts' interactive museum, bowling alley, skating rink and carousel turning the opening night into an action packed evening of activities and experiences. The YBCA features a 100 person bowling alley, an indoor ice skating rink and an old fashioned carousel affording all guests an opportunity to turn back the hands of time. All Flashforward Conference attendees are invited to attend the opening event.
On the evening of August 21st the Flashforward Film Festival awards the best Flash work on the planet with signature Big Orange Rubber Arrows. Four finalists in each category will be announced and category winners revealed on stage during the evening festival.
"I think the Flashforward Film Festival is one of the great by-products of Flash," said Chris Georgenes, Art & Animation Director, Mudbubble LLC and Flashforward Film Festival Judge. "Back in 2000 I witnessed my very first Flashforward Film Festival. For me, it inspired an Ah Ha! moment - just like when Jake Blues (John Belushi in the Blues Brothers) 'saw the light' from the back of the church and yelled 'The BAND! The BAND!'."
After the Big Orange Rubber Arrows have been awarded the entire Flashforward community will gather at Ruby Skye where modern sophistication meets traditional luxury. Ruby Skye is housed in a 15,000 square foot historical landmark Art Nouveau building from the 1890's with updated modern decor. The space houses four distinctly different club areas ensuring that all Flashforward attendees will enjoy their evening whether dancing to the live band Lyrics Born, spinning with DJ Solomon, or bending the ear of fellow attendees. Ruby Skye ensures that Flashforward2008 attendees in San Francisco will live by the motto of the Flash community: 'Work hard, play harder'.
