[prMac.com] Oslo, Norway - Nor Eagle today is pleased to announce the release of Squid Drop 1.0, their latest game for the iPhone and iPod touch. Chance, faith, or perhaps a cunning marketing plan has made sure the release-date coincides with the developer's birthday. The game is an arcade/action game priced at $0.99.
"That's right!" said T. Benjamin Larsen, developer and hunkalicious CEO at Nor Eagle. "The game was cleared by Apple less than two weeks ago, and I figured it was an ample opportunity to celebrate my birthday in style. I figured no-one would dare to upset the universe by denying me anything on this day." Squid Drop has been in development some nine months and Larsen seems genuinely proud of the game: "We're really pleased with Squid Drop. Being a one-man developing house with delusions of grandeur 'we' think Squid Drop has real hit-potential. The feedback we've received from both testers and the press has been overwhelming."
When asked earlier why he believed Squid Drop has what it takes to succeed in the crowded App Store; Larsen had this to say: "The simple answer is that we believe Squid Drop is a really fun game to play and a quality title. If I was to elaborate I believe there's an unmet demand for squid featuring games out there. Recently bird lovers have been over catered for, while the silent squid loving majority has had little to look forward to. Squid Drop should remedy this shameful situation."
Squid Drop is an arcade/action game in the infinite-survival genre. The game offers more variety in the gameplay than most other games of this type. Other notable features are global low-scores and achievements.
