Utilizing Crowd Sourcing to Raise Funds for Indie Game Development

[prMac.com] San Francisco, California - Bravado Waffle Studios is pleased to officially announce their upcoming debut game RoboArena. RoboArena is a Top-Down-Turn-Based-Casual-Strategy-Multiplayer-Puzzle-Action-Game ('TDTBCSMPAG' for short).

The team of three have spent seven months developing and working on their debut title, and up until now they have been bootstrapping the development. They are now turning to Kickstarter to raise funds to finish the production and polish of their debut title.

"Kickstarter serves three purposes- it provides excellent market research, builds an invested (literally) community and fan base, and it helps with raising funding. If your pitch and idea is good, you will get funded and have a devoted fan base of supporters. However, if your pitch doesn't strike a cord with the public then you know to redirect your energy to something that would be more profitable." Stephen says.

"We firmly believe in the power of indie game development and we think there has never been a better time to get into the market than right now. This is thanks in no small part to the proliferation of smartphones and the app store." states Stephen Dick, the game designer and marketing manager for Bravado Waffle Studios. "However, this low barrier to entry is a mixed blessing. Indie developers face an uphill battle in a market that is flooded with entries. Our goal is to provide an example of how entrepreneurial indie startups can develop high quality games successfully without resorting to raising venture capital, relying on 3rd party publishers, or dealing with high out-of-pocket expenses."

"Many developers are starting to despair that the signal-to-noise ratio is too high on the App stores. Many fear that even a great product has no chance of succeeding unless it gets lucky. Kickstarter can change that." Stephen adds "Success of our campaign will not only help us to finish RoboArena, we hope it will become a beacon of hope for indie developers. We want to show them ways they can raise funds and build a strong supportive community to spread the word and increase chances of success with little more than a good idea and a lot of elbow grease."

The Kickstarter campaign to fund RoboArena's development started on April 25th and has the goal of raising $5000 in 30 days. For more information see the RoboArena Kickstarter page, as well as Bravado Waffle Studio's official website.
