[prMac.com] Tampa, Florida - Today, iSimple, a leader in smartphone-to-vehicle integration kits and mobile device accessories, announced the availability of new firmware for its popular GateWay(TM) car integration kit that makes available hundreds of new Honda and Acura vehicle applications. The firmware (revision 807b) adds CDC mode support, and can be applied to GateWay modules sold individually (PXAMG) and in Honda/Acura-specific kits (ISHD571) . The firmware download is available on the iSimple website.
Essentially, the new firmware update allows the GateWay to connect to a Honda or Acura factory radio as a CD changer instead of a satellite tuner, making virtually every 2004 to 2011 Honda and Acura vehicle compatible with the GateWay (with the exception of radios equipped with a "CDL" button and Honda Element models equipped with radio part number 2BW0; both are not compatible with this firmware). If the vehicle has only an "AUX" button on the factory radio (instead of an "Aux/Sat" or "XM" button) a dipswitch on the GateWay module can be thrown to put the module into CDC mode once the firmware update has been accomplished. This then allows the user to browse six playlists or use the iPod/iPhone in manual control mode. If the vehicle does have an "XM" or "Sat" button, the end-user has the option of choosing whether he/she wants the GateWay installed in full-featured, satellite radio emulation or a more simplified, CD changer emulation mode.
Application notes are as follows:
* CDC mode offers track control from the head unit, but does not provide text on the radio
* Factory-installed navigation radios with a USB input do not support CDC emulation
* In vehicles using CDC mode, the 6-disc changer (if installed) it must be disconnected
Available at car audio specialty stores nationwide, the GateWay expands the audio and entertainment capabilities of most OEM stereo systems by delivering digital quality sound directly from any model of iPod or iPhone using the vehicle's factory radio controls. The GateWay also supports battery charging on all models of iPod and iPhone with 30-pin connectors, and offers an additional audio input for use with other mp3 players, smartphones and tablets. Users can further enhance the features of their GateWay operating in satellite radio emulation mode with a number of upgrades including the NuRadio(TM) (HDRT) HD Radio tuner, the BluStream(TM) (ISBT21) hands-free Bluetooth module, and a satellite radio receiver using a SatWire(TM) (ISSR11) cable.
Pricing and Availability:
In addition to Honda and Acura, the GateWay is also available for most late-model Audi, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Hummer, Hyundai, Infiniti, Isuzu, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercury, Nissan, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, Scion, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen vehicles. MSRP for all GateWay kits is $189.95 (USD).
