[prMac.com] Efringen-Kirchen, Germany - Pixeltin, an innovative new mobile application developer committed to creating uniquely dynamic mobile gaming experiences, has today announced that the recently updated version of Rows 3D - the developer's popular take on the next step of the tic-tac-toe themed game - is more versatile and fun than ever before! Compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, Rows 3D can best be explained as a 3D mix between tic-tac-toe and connect four. Here players choose to either do battle against one another, or take on a challenging CPU opponent and play alone. Players take turns stacking game "stones" on a 4 X 4 board, attempting to connect four "stones" in either straight or diagonal lines at a single height before their opponent gets the chance to do the same. Rows 3D is currently available for download on the Apple App Store for only $1.99.
At its core this is a game of pure strategy and skill. In deed, alluding to Rows 3D as a distant relative of tic-tac-toe is akin to alluding to the space shuttle as a distant relative to the Wright Bros. first wooden airplane. The connection simply doesn't do it justice. The aim of the game itself is simple. Whoever connects four of their game pieces in a line, with all of their pieces lying on the same level wins. This is where the simplicity ends. In practice Rows 3D is a very cerebral and strategic game, and one which as the power to mentally engage everyone from novices to the game's most experienced veterans.
Besides playing live opponents heads-up, users also have the choice of battling a virtual opponent. To make sure that the game stays adaptable to players of various skill levels Rows 3D allows players to choose any one of five difficultly levels for their CPU competition. These modes of difficulty range anywhere from "Beginner" mode to a "Master" mode that is sure to challenge any opponent. Importantly, no two games of Rows 3D will ever be the same as no CPU opponent will ever play a game utilizing the same exact moves as they've used before, a fact that ensures the app holds an almost boundless amount of re-play value. Furthermore, to keep things fresh users are also free to choose between a number to differing board and level themes as well.
Rows 3D shines in the department of overall design as well. The app makes for a perfect showcase of the liberating freedom and power of Apple's multi-touch technology, providing users with an unprecedented level of gameplay control. In fact overall, the game's user interface and player controls are well polished, superbly intuitive, and extremely responsive. Yet these initial successes haven't stopped Pixeltin from continuing to ensure that their 3D strategy is as good as it could be. With its recent updates, Rows 3D now features Apple Game Center integration, new board designs, improved sound options, and includes iOS 4 multi-tasking support as well. Rows 3D is one of the few game apps that is as much fun to play as it is a pleasure to use, so take a seat and see if you have what it takes to build a full row of stones before the enemy does with Rows 3D today!
