in Education (E)

[prMac.com] New Rochelle, New York - MultiEducator today is pleased to introduce JFK for Kids 1.0 for iOS or OS X, their multimedia biography of JFK 51 years after taking office, designed especially for kids in grades 3 - 5. Featuring 14 chronologically ordered chapters, there are 100 high-resolution photographs, a 3-minute video summary, 12 archival video clips, audio clips, and a historical timeline. The reference app is fully searchable, and reveals in fascinating detail the upbringing, education, personal life, and public service of America's 34th President. JFK for Kids is MultiEducator's first Kids Biography, and draws on their encyclopedic multimedia biography, JFK Historymaker, which was written by the company's President, Marc Schulman.

JFK for Kids operates in both portrait and landscape modes. In landscape mode, the leftmost quarter of the screen displays the search field and 14 chapter headings. Touching any chapter title activates a push transition that brings in a list of the various text, photo, audio, and video content in that chapter. All content includes a text description and one of four icons, indicating the media type. All text content is a single page with accompanying illustrations, ideal for students ages 9 - 11. All photos are high-resolution, and users can zoom in and out for varying levels of detail.

In portrait mode, content is displayed full screen and chapters are displayed in a pop-up window that disappears after a selection has been made. Particularly powerful are the 12 archival videos, which brings the historical accounts to life. Black and white news and documentary footage highlights: desegregation at the University of Mississippi, interviews with American citizens recollecting the day of JFK's assassination, JFK's address to congress on the space program, actual color footage of the first Apollo moon landing, and Kennedy's historic television address to the nation during the Cuban missile crisis.

The app also features: an Info button for additional information about each photo, audio, video, and text entry; a search function; a Favorites library; Recently Viewed content; an illustrated JFK Timeline from May 29, 1917 to November 22, 1963; Introductory and Concluding Videos; and a brief set of instructions on using the app.
