[prMac.com] Mechanicsville, Virginia - Binary Formations, LLC, makers of fine software for the Mac, iPhone and iPad, recently announced Home Inventory 2.4, the latest version of its popular and critically acclaimed home inventory management application.
With a focus on innovation and ease of use, Home Inventory 2.4 introduces the easiest way yet to add item information to a digital home inventory with the addition of barcode scanning to Home Inventory Photo Remote, a free companion app for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Home Inventory Photo Remote allows users to wander around their homes and add items and item photos to their inventory without being stuck in front of their computer, making it easier to create an inventory and get organized with Home Inventory than any other product on the market.
This new release ups the ante by adding the ability to use the built-in camera on the iPhone and iPad 2 to scan the barcode on an item or its packaging. Home Inventory will then lookup the information about the item online and add it to its inventory database. This makes inventorying media items, such as CDs, books, and DVDs, a cinch.
"We have added barcode scanning to Home Inventory but with a twist. Basically, we have turned the iPhone into a remote barcode scanner, and we have done it in a way that is so simple yet useful for our customers," states Kevin Hamilton, owner and developer. "We had been planning to add barcode scanning to Home Inventory for some time now but wanted to do it in such a way that did not require our customers to carry each item to their Mac in order to scan it. We also wanted to give users the ability to automatically populate item information with the simple scan of a barcode. This is a huge time saver for anyone, whether using Home Inventory to get organized, track insurance, or manage collections"
Binary Formations is recognized in the industry for its stellar productivity and organizational product, Home Inventory, a Mac app used by organizers, collectors, and home owners worldwide. The product received 4 out of 5 mice rating from Macworld and was called "spectacularly user-friendly" by Mac Format. It also was recently featured in the Mac App Store in the New and Noteworthy, What's Hot and Staff Favorite sections.
