[prMac.com] London, UK - XChange International, the source for extended technology worldwide, are pleased to announce the release of Bookletizer and MediaBoxXT for the newly shipping QuarkXPress 8. Both XTensions were available for earlier versions of QuarkXPress, and the developers have worked closely with Quark Alliance to be able to have their products ready for the release of QuarkXPress 8 and to ensure uninterrupted workflows for customers relying on the extensive power of XTensions.
QuarkXPress automatically creates facing pages in reader's spreads format. Page two faces page three, just as the pages appear in the final publication. This is the easiest way to edit text, since you can see the entire spread at one time. But when it comes time to output a saddle stitched publication, the document needs to be rearranged into printer's spreads format.
Bookletizer does this automatically for Quark users. With Bookletizer, converting a document from reader's spreads to printer's spreads is as easy as a menu command in QuarkXPress. Users can even adjust for creep to make sure the gutter margins of longer documents remain consistent. Bookletizer lets users convert their document back to reader's spreads just as easily, so they can edit their document while viewing it the way the reader will.
Bookletizer for QuarkXPress 8 is available for Macintosh with a Windows version soon to ship. There is an upgrade available from the QuarkXPress 7 version and it is also available for earlier versions of QuarkXPress.
MediaBoxXT is the perfect tool for creating PDF files with QuarkXPress and Acrobat Distiller. All necessary settings are done within one print style and can be activated with one click. After installation, from "Edit->Print Styles", an additional panel called "MediaBoxXT" is available for specifying the settings according to a print style. Settings options in MediaBoxXT include:
* PDF Pageparameter: With this option, active Distiller commands are added to the PostScript(R) output for setting the PDF page parameters Trim-, Bleed-, Crop- and MediaBox
* Pageborders: A thin black line (.25 pt, black) is drawn around the document page size (useful for proofing purposes)
* Print to file: The output is written to a Postscript file. If no folder is specified, the PostScript file is created within the document folder. The name of the file is the project name + suffix ".ps"
* Distill: With this option active, Acrobat Distiller is started automatically with the created PS file
