[prMac.com] Taipei, Taiwan - Spica, an independent mobile application developer, has today announced the release of an update for Minesweeper Q. Compatible with all iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices running on iOS 3.1.2 or later, Minesweeper Q is a free gaming title which features a number of improvement over it's earlier incarnations. Among these is an improved touch-screen responsiveness, as well as the addition of an eclectic new game-board theme aptly named 'Sky Whales'. The app offers users the same authentic minesweeper action they know and love. The game has simply been refined, tuned up for its new mobile home, and given more a more vibrant graphic feel. Minesweeper Q version 1.2.1 is currently available for download on the Apple App Store for free.
This game was created to transport the minesweeper experience to iOS and ensuring that it lived up to the full potential of this new medium while keeping its feet firmly rooted in the timeless gameplay minesweeper fans know and love. For anyone that's lived in a cave since the dawn of PC's and have never heard of minesweeper, this is a simple grid-based strategy game where player are tasked with identifying a set number of mines hidden throughout the game's grid using numbered clues - and sometimes blind luck - to find all the mines without blowing themselves up. Minesweeper Q doesn't change any aspects of the game simply because, as the saying goes, "If it's not broken, don't fix it!" Instead, Spica decided that it would focus its energy on providing the best possible incarnation of this classic game they could to their players.
As a result, Minesweeper Q offers unbelievably crisp gameplay and graphics, two mode of play - Normal and Quick Flag - as well as five uniquely whimsical board appearance options to help things fresh for the player. This game includes three difficulty levels, with each successively more challenging level containing more mines as well as a larger grid for players to stumble through. Of course, Minesweeper veterans still have the luxury of configuring a custom sized game grid and mine quantity just like the original as well. Furthermore, to ensure there's no first-second headaches, the game utilizes a 'First Tap Luck' function so that players don't blow themselves up on their first turn due to some horribly bad luck. Competitive bomb sweepers can track their high-scores and statistics as well. Or compete for high scores via Apple's Game Center as well. With Minesweeper Q, all it takes to get into the minesweeping action is an iPhone at your side and a few minutes to kill.
