Zachy the Robot Brings Children's Interactive Television to the iPad

in Education (E)

[] Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - The first episode of Zachy the Robot, a new interactive educational children's cartoon series, is now available at the iTunes App Store for the Apple iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. By combining over ten minutes of full-screen animation, narrative story lines and interactivity, GenevaMars is taking a new approach to children's educational entertainment. "We think there are a lot of great kids apps out there but we wanted to create something that had more sticking power, something that kids would really fall in love with," commented Charles Kim, CEO of GenevaMars.

Zachy the Robot follows the adventures of a young robot named Zachy and his friends, the Repairbots, as they fix things in Robocity. Children ages 3 through 7 will learn about basic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts by interacting with Zachy and the Repairbots through puzzles, games and question and answer sessions. Children will also join Zachy and company in learning the importance of teamwork and friendship along the way.

"We believe that by adding engaging stories, fun characters, and most importantly, full-screen animation that lasts from start-to-finish and holds the child's attention, we can truly take advantage of the educational value that interactive devices like the iPad and iPhone offer," says Kim.

The Story:
In Episode 1: The Leaning Tower of Robocity, Zachy and the Repairbots must figure out how to prevent the tallest skyscraper in Robocity from leaning over. This episode teaches young children about the basic concept of structural balance. Upcoming episodes will cover concepts such as pulleys, electricity, friction, bridges and measurement. Zachy the Robot promises to spark a new generation's interest in learning about science, technology, engineering and mathematics at a time when our schools are falling behind in those key areas. More episodes are expected in the second half of 2011.
