Pocket Cafe for iPad - Free Family Sim Game Enters the Top 50 in US

in Games (E)

[prMac.com] Hanoi, Vietnam - Alley Labs today is pleased to announce Pocket Cafe (TM), a free and expanded iPad version of their popular iPhone game, Pocket Cafe. Designed for long-term and social play, the family sim game allows the player to run his or her own virtual cafe. During gameplay, they earn money and points, and face hundreds of choices regarding menu items, improvements, clothing, etc. Additional coins and mints, which are necessary to pay for expanding the restaurant, are available as in-app purchases. Released June 16, the game is already in the top 50 free Family Games for iPad in the US.

Played in landscape mode, the game starts out with a small, simple cafe. Players can input their name, and the label remains above the owner as he busily cooks food and serves customers. With a graphical style reminiscent of Farm Town, the lively 3D characters are in constant motion, and there is a steady stream of customers in and out of the cafe. Occasionally, characters will pause, sit, and enjoy a meal, and customers may stop for a moment as they play an arcade game or put money into the jukebox. The cutaway view of the cafe is zoomable for any level of detail.

Players may spend time working in their own restaurant or visit the cafes of other players. A player's cafe continues to operate when they are visiting other restaurants via in-game Internet connectivity. Some cafes are modest, with only two or three tables. Others are opulent, with more than 50 tables, games, buffets, and a large wait staff.

Players earn points and money working in their own restaurant, and hearts by sampling food at other cafes. Owners can grow their establishments by investing in a larger restaurant, chairs, tables, stoves, coin-operated games, wall decor, doors, floor tiles, and walls. There are dozens of colorful, stylish choices in each category, each with its own cost and benefits. In addition, the player can invest in items to improve their status and that of their staff, for example: clothing, hats, hairstyles, faces, skin colors, etc.

With better stoves comes the ability to prepare more expensive dishes, allowing the player to grow their business and level up. With additional stoves, players can increase their income by serving more customers. The game is filled with highly detailed characters, foods, decor, and activities.
