Ad Girl Creates New Cocktail App, Escapes Brutal Canadian Winter

in Lifestyle (E)

[] Toronto, Canada - As a top Rainmaker, Dee Jones spent many years working 80 hours a week pitching ad space to the who's who of the advertising world. Pounding the pavement daily, she broke more than a few heels along the way. Jones has since traded the heels and pavement for flip flops and white sandy beaches, creating sizzling apps while sipping on cocktails overlooking the Caribbean sea.

How did Jones go from Ad Girl to App Girl?

Dee left the ad world in the summer of 2008 after she saw her first iPhone app ... "I was hooked, it was definitely a light-bulb moment", she says.

Enter the Digital Nomad, aka Location Independence. This emerging lifestyle trend affords anyone with a laptop, an internet connection, and a dream to make a living wherever they are. Dee had enough of the miserable sleet & snow of the Canadian winter and decided to change course, heading south and spending nearly 2 months in tropical locales, crafting her latest app.

Jones is the only app publisher in the world with cocktail apps for each of the the iPhone, iPad, Android, and Macintosh app platforms. Her firm, Pocket Cocktails, has produced top apps that have been featured in Food & Wine Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, The Doctors TV show, People Magazine's Style Watch and on the cover of a Dummies book.

In her latest iPad app, Cocktails & Cookbook - Easy Recipes, worlds collide with content from three of Dee's top culinary apps coming together in a comprehensive and easy-to-use cocktail, food and wine resource.

Dee plans on producing her next app at her parents' scenic New Brunswick cottage over the summer. The new satellite dish on the roof is welcome, albeit foreign addition to the rustic landscape. Dee smiles and says appreciatively, "Thank heavens they finally have an internet connection there"
