Pulse celebrating 12 weeks as Top 10 iPad Music Game - Limited Time

in Games (E)

[prMac.com] Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - To celebrate 12 consecutive weeks in the top 10 iPad music game charts, the publishers of the critically acclaimed "Pulse: Volume One" today announce a limited time promotional price of $1.99, which is now available from the iTunes App Store. This is a 60% savings from the regular list price of $4.99.

The Apple team selected Pulse as its iPad game of the week upon its release in May. Chart leadership at the top of the App Store's Music Games category quickly followed, along with tremendous recognition from reviewers and fans alike, including App of the Day from Kotaku and Smash Apps, MacLife's Editor's Choice, and an 8 out of 10 review from IGN. Customers love it too, with a 4.5 rating from App Store reviewers.

This $1.99 offer will be available through Wednesday, August 10.

"Pulse: Volume One" comes from Philadelphia-based indie game company Cipher Prime, who have also published the popular Auditorium and Fractal games.

"Pulse: Volume One" delivers an inviting atmosphere of melodic immersion, turning the player into both an active gamer and composer. The multi-touch experience is an elegant ode to rhythm, where music harmoniously ties the user to gameplay. The game begins with a pulse that radiates over a series of concentric circles. Players tap notes as they are crossed by the pulse as it expands in time with the music. Beautiful graphics blossom and float outwards with each successfully timed hit. Missed notes, on the other hand, temporarily bump the game environment out of sync. Pulse is propelled by its original soundtrack. Each level showcases a different song, and the game features eight original tracks from the Cipher Prime team. By changing the number of rings in every level, the player can play music in a variety of time signatures - a unique phenomenon in the rhythm game arena.

IGN's review: "Great ... put Pulse on your brightly-lit, musical radar."

Pocket Gamer says "A package so thoroughly well put together that you're reminded of why music games were popular in the first place."

MacWorld calls Pulse "A remarkable rhythm game."

Cipher Prime is also regularly releasing free tracks written for Pulse by independent local Philadelphia musical artists. These songs are available specifically for individual levels, providing an eclectic soundtrack for the game, incorporating genres from chip-tune to nerdcore to death metal all while supporting the burgeoning Philadelphia music scene. The next music release is expected later this month.
