[prMac.com] Vienna, Austria - Eternal Storms Software, creator of popular Mac software ScreenFloat, a productivity app that creates screenshots that float above all windows to keep a piece of information visible at all times and flickery, a flickr desktop client, today announced the immediate availability of their newest creation for the Mac - Yoink. This application provides a small window for dragging files to, so to simplify dragging files between spaces, fullscreen apps or just between Finder windows.
Dragging and dropping files in Lion, especially between different spaces and more so between or to fullscreen applications, can be very cumbersome. Yoink was created to help right there. The application fades in a small window every time the user starts dragging a file so they can drop it on there. Then they can switch to the space, fullscreen app (or Finder window, even) comfortably with the mouse and then re-start the drag from Yoink's window. A short screencast is available at the website to better demonstrate how Yoink works.
Yoink's window, by default, sticks to the left edge of the display, but can also be sent to the right side.
Features of Yoink:
* Drag files to Yoink's window to free your mouse so you can more easily navigate between spaces, fullscreen apps and windows, then resume the drag from Yoink and drop it onto the desired application
* QuickLook items in Yoink's item list
* Double-click items in Yoink's item list to open them up
"Yoink was created out of pure need for it" says Matthias Gansrigler, CEO and developer of Eternal Storms Software. "I just couldn't figure out how to drag files between Finder and a fullscreen'ed Mail.app, or even a fullscreen'ed Xcode.app, thus, Yoink was born".
Pricing and availability
Yoink is exclusively available on the Mac App Store for $2.99/Euro2.39. It requires OS X Lion. A free 15-day trial is available at the website.
