[prMac.com] Elsternwick, Australia - AppleUsers has announced, as part of the celebrations of Software Freedom Day 2011 (Saturday, September 17), that AppleUsers have compiled a selection of some of the best, yet totally free, software that's available for the Mac, collected together on a single DVD, called "Spotlight on FOSS" plus we've included some bonus videos that were created with Open Source Software!
A 78-page "Sampler Edition" of the AppleUsers Spotlight that focusses on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) is also included on the DVD.

Obtaining Spotlight on FOSS DVD:
Software on FOSS DVD will be distributed to the public, free of charge, at participating Software Freedom Day 2011 Events and various Apple User Groups around the globe.
Apple User Group Leaders and Software Freedom Day event organisers can register, free of charge, to receive details on how to download the Golden Master and support files that will enable them to burn off copies of the Spotlight on FOSS DVD to distribute at 2011 Software Freedom Day events or Apple User Group meetings.
What is Software Freedom Day:
Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). Their goal in this celebration is to educate the worldwide public about of the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in business - in short, everywhere! The non-profit company Software Freedom International coordinates SFD at a global level, providing support, giveaways and a point of collaboration, but volunteer teams around the world organize the local SFD events to impact their own communities.
AppleUsers is a volunteer organization that acts as a central location for the Committees, Editors, Web Masters and other Leaders of Australian Apple User Groups to find useful resources. We represent nearly thirty active Apple Users Groups, based all around Australia, with a combined membership in excess of five thousand Apple Enthusiasts and Users. AppleUsers publishes a 30 page, digital format magazine, every second month for all Apple enthusiasts and eleven times a year we compile a unique Disc of the Month for distribution via participating Australian Apple User Groups.
