[prMac.com] Melbourne, Australia - Millipede Creative Development and Tennis Australia introduces Tennis Hot Shots 1.0, a new role-playing game inspired by titles such as PokemonTM and Mario TennisTM, will be launched for iOS devices on Friday 28 October 2011. Targeted at kids aged 10 and under, gamers customize their own player, train them in mini-games to improve their skills, learn powerful special moves and challenge other players from around the world.
The game has been designed to support MLC Tennis Hot Shots, Tennis Australia's kids' starter program which aims to get children on court and having fun. In the past 12 months more than 240,000 kids have enjoyed an MLC Tennis Hot Shots experience at one of the 940 official venues around Australia.
The Tennis Hot Shots game was created by Tennis Australia and Melbourne-based award-winning game developers Millipede Creative Development. Whilst structurally based on the Red, Orange and Green balls that are the cornerstone of the MLC Tennis Hot Shots program, the game features fantastical elements including over the top special moves and end of level bosses.
"The game mechanic of Hot Shots is perfect for the mobile platform," explains Millipede Creative Development Director Wil Monte. "Similar to the popular 'With Friends' games on the App Store, users can challenge friends whenever they wish and not rely on them being online at that very moment.
"Adding the RPG aspects, where users can train and level up their players, and a smattering of fantasy themes makes this game loads of fun for all ages," he said.
"This exciting game will help to engage both kids and adults with the MLC Tennis Hot Shots program, " MLC Tennis Hot Shots Leader Craig Morris said. "We hope that this will inspire young kids to pick up a racquet and head to their local club to play tennis with their friends."
Tennis Hot Shots is a role-playing game where players complete training mini-games to improve their player's speed, power and accuracy stats before taking to the Hot Shots Arena to challenge a friend, stranger or AI opponent.
Matches are played in a tiebreak format and last for between three and five minutes. Victory is determined by player stats rather than direct control and players do not have to be online at the same time to challenge each other. Players can collect increasingly powerful special moves and stat buffs from the computer-controlled players after defeating them.

Tennis Hot Shots is available to download for free on iOS devices and will be available to play as a flash game on the new MLC Hot Shots website in late November 2011. MLC Tennis Hot Shots is the fun and easy way for kids aged 10 and under to learn how to play tennis.
The low-compression red, orange and green tennis balls, smaller racquets and courts are designed to get children having fun playing the game from their very first session. They can compete against others at a similar standard while learning new skills and developing correct technique.
Former world No.8 and Australian favorite Alicia Molik is the Ambassador of the MLC Tennis Hot Shots program. "One of the most important things for kids is trying new sports and having fun right from the word 'go'," Molik said.
