[prMac.com] New York - Apple's Newsstand app for iOS5 aggregates individual magazine apps simplifying the end user experience for readers. Publishers initially balked at the idea of having to develop individual apps for Newsstand - but the phenomenal adoption by Newsstand users has caused them to rethink their digital strategies.
Magzter Inc., a New York based digital newsstand has given publishers an easy way to get onto Apple's Newsstand through 'Magzter powered apps' specifically designed for the Apple Newsstand. 'Magzter powered apps' currently account for more than 5% of Apple Newsstand titles with several more on the way. The Apple Newsstand has been a runaway success for those magazines who were powered by Magzter and been early adopters of the newsstand concept.
Regional publishing powerhouses like India Today Group, World Wide Media,NextGen, have seen sales skyrocket with over 600% increases month-on-month via the Apple Newsstand apps from Magzter. Some of these titles include:
* Men's Health
* India Today
* Business Today
* Smart Photography
* Galatta Cinema
Magazines that have signed up on the Magzter digital newsstand can get an Apple Newsstand app from Magzter in a matter of days. The back end of these apps links seamlessly with the Magzter platform and enables consumers to browse, preview, purchase single issues or subscriptions and even access old issues from within the app.
Traditionally publishers would need to spend tens of thousands of dollars to create an app and then have to worry about operability across iOS and Android, annual updates, templates for tablets vs. smart phones, embedding multi-media, etc. Magzter removes all these costs and worries and allows magazine teams to focus on content creation and digital strategies that can then be enabled through Magzter.
"We are finding that publishers and editors who focus on content creation and meeting the needs of their target audience while leaving the technology to us are reaping the greatest benefits. The rich multi-media audio-video capabilities, XML options, interoperability across Apple, Android, PCs and other systems, self service publisher tools - and upcoming HTML5 ensure that these publishers stay ahead of the technology curve." said Vijay, Co-founder & CTO of Magzter. "This is a very exciting time for the industry" he added.
