Shared Paper: Easy Powerful Digital Paper, Share Ideas Between 16 iPads
April 28, 2012 in Productivity
[prMac.com] London, United Kingdom - Announcing the release of Shared Paper, a productivity app for the iPad that provides a digital workspace for capturing, sharing and presenting of ideas. It can be used for quick sketching or accurate drawing on a digital canvas that can be scrolled and zoomed freely, providing an immense interactive workspace that can also be shared between multiple iPad devices. Once connected via a wireless network, an interactive workspace can be shared on all iPads and modified by any member of the group. Up to 16 iPad users can share a whiteboard session and work on it at once.
Shared paper is ideal for organising thoughts, creating a design, formal meetings or just casually exploring an idea with a few friends. Suitable for use in business, education or at home, Shared Paper is an ideal personal productivity tool when used standalone as well as being highly effective for brainstorming when used in a group.
Powerful drawing tools mean either simple sketches or intricate detailed diagrams and designs can be rapidly created and annotated with images and text. Once created anything can be changed and refined afterwards with comprehensive editing tools. Providing a continuous digital whiteboard practically without limits, users can focus in on incredibly fine detail or zoom out and see the big picture giving the room to let ideas flow freely.
Summarising and organising results of a session is uniquely provided, where selected views from across the canvas can instantly be turned into a slideshow and presented back on the iPad or an external display via cable or AirPlay. Shared Paper can also present wirelessly to other iPads connected over the network, creating a group presentation space practically anywhere. No need for a conference room or projector, impromptu meetings can be held anywhere - in a hotel lobby, a restaurant or even on a train.
"Shared Paper has been created with two aims in mind" says Nigel Jenkins of developer Nebulus Design, "the first is to have digital paper that is really easy to use, with tools like freeform sketching, shape recognition and the ability to change anything anytime with great edit tools. But equally as important is to provide an app that doesn't run out of steam when you become proficient and want to do something a bit more sophisticated. Many apps fall over here, and users get frustrated after a while, but Shared Paper has the legs to keep going. While Shared Paper is simple to use, it is not simplistic and has the power when it's needed."
David Hughes, co-developer comments, "Shared Paper is instantly accessible digital paper, but shared. Being able to set up an impromptu workspace almost anywhere with friends or colleagues is priceless. When you have people working together this way, great things happen. What's more, the usual hassle of documenting everything after a session is beautifully handled by Shared Paper's presenter tools. You can have a PDF summary of the session in everyone's mailbox even before they get back to their desks after a session. Now that's pretty neat."
