10,000 downloads within 1 week after launch of educational iPad game
July 26, 2012 in Education
[prMac.com] Melbourne, Australia - Mobile educational games company, Broccol-e-games, reaches the 10,000 downloads milestone for its first product, Maths with Springbird, less than 1 week after launching on the iPad App Store. The game combines the practicing of maths skills, game mechanics and virtual incentives to make learning maths enjoyable for children 4-6 years old. It quickly climbed the charts in Australia and New Zealand, and is currently the number 1 educational iPad app in Australia and New Zealand App Stores.
The game has been featured by Apple, Famigo, the Texas Computer Education Association, Yahoo News and Tech in Asia, among others.
David Truong, founder of Broccol-e-games explains: "We've been focused on the Australian market, but it has been surprising to see the interest in our game from places like the USA, UK, China and Singapore. The Asian markets seem most interested, even though we haven't released our translated version yet. There's definitely a need out there from parents with iPads, who would rather have their children do something more productive than waste time on Angry Birds. We're tapping into the trend of casual learning - where children can spend less than 10 minutes practicing and learning, without having to commit hours to the activity of 'schooling'."
To date, the game has been played more than 70,000 times, averaging 7 individual play sessions per user, in more than 100 countries around the world. As children play through the game, they practice and learn elementary maths, earn virtual incentives in the form of unlocking new sounds, characters and customisations, and eventually finish the game by beating the evil cat boss. The maths content is modelled on the new Australian Curriculum, a standardised nationwide curriculum that the Australian Government is currently implementing.
Broccol-e-games plans to create a suite of educational games for children that will contribute to the disruption of the education industry.
