The simplest navigation app you could ever want

in Navigation

[prMac.com] Stockholm, Sweden - A Distance meter and an arrow which points toward the destination. Often this is all you need to quickly get to a location. Developed by Agile Dimension Inc., FastTrack Navigator for iPhone helps people who don't want or need to use a map. Navigation made super easy. The new version 1.1 is coming to the App Store with functions targeted for cyclists, trekkers and geocachers.

Apple blog 'Cult of Mac' was the first to make a review: "FastTrack Navigator is just about the simplest navigation app you could ever want: It's a big arrow on the screen telling you the direction of your destination, along with a number telling you how far away it is ... like the rest of the app, it is beautifully simple in its design ... It's even cheap: At $1, you'd be a fool not to have this on you." Read original post on website.

The app is very useful for walking, running, biking, boating and when commuting, but you might find it useful when driving as well. It works perfectly with an iPhone bike mount. You don't have the time to look at a map when your are biking. A quick glance at the screen and you are set! Greatly improves traffic safety! Since the app do not use background mode, it is perhaps the most energy efficient navigation app in the App Store, as you only use it briefly until your are very close to the target.

Colors, graphics and fonts are carefully selected to be used outdoors on a sunny day. The app is designed for secure, one-handed, thumb-operated usage on the move. Even the direction arrow conforms to ISO Standard 7001, like airport pictograms.

FastTrack Navigator is integrated with the iOS6 maps routing functionality, which makes it accessible from the iPhone Maps app. Just tap Route and FastTrack will open with the destination location. It is only available on iOS 6. Version 1.1 also have GPX and KML(KMZ) file support for import from Google maps, GPS devices and Geocaching web sites.

A location in the Apple Maps app can easily be opened in Google Maps Street View, via FastTrack Navigator. Check out the destination in Street View, then return to FastTrack Navigator for a simple, secure and battery efficient navigation. Once you get close to your destination, you'll recognize it from Google Street View!

The app directs you to the nearest way to a destination, 'as the crow flies'. It's not a straight line as you might think as the earth is curved.

Share your position with a friend (or the destination) and you can meet up, even if you are on a outdoor concert or a festival. Share your parked car location with your spouse.

The app lets you bookmark places so you easily can find your way back. Research a holiday location in the Maps app before you travel and save the locations you want to visit as FastTrack Navigator bookmarks.

For free, you also get the "Pro mode", which gives you a more detailed screen with Speedometer, Altimeter and a Time-To-Go meter. Time-To-Go is the most optimistic time to reach the destination, if you move directly towards the destination at the current speed. You also get full manual control over the different navigation modes.
