The Missing - A Dangerous Truth - The app that could save your life

in Games (F)

[] London, United Kingdom - 'The Missing: A Dangerous Truth' is a project of the "Inspired by London 2012 Programme" and launching as an online game, and as an app available on Apple and Android devices. Cause-Related Entertainment agency Digital Giving Ltd have created an innovative and engaging game, taking inspiration from the popular 'gothic novel' genre where a teenage brother and sister detective team attempt to overcome Zombie-like evil characters and discover a 'dangerous truth.' With all this sport, it's time to sit back and enjoy a colourful, highly visual experience that is also a brain-teaser.

Without detracting from the experience, the game also cleverly links people to information on the new Speak Up, Stay Safe website to help them speak up and put confident communication at the heart of health and wellbeing at work.

Alex Botha, British Safety Council CEO said; "this is breaking new ground for British Safety Council and for our sector. We know it's difficult to reach young people but it's their attitude to risk that will make the difference in the future. I was delighted by the response of pupils as our Speak Up, Stay Safe campaign is all about starting young. The game is a great opportunity to get important information on the website into their hands. It really could be a game that saves lives."

Grant Morgan, co-founder of Digital Giving Ltd, said, "The challenge with the brief was to create a compelling, interactive experience that young people would enjoy and share with their friends. We are confident that The Missing - A Dangerous Truth delivers on all levels and will revolutionise health and safety education."

Notes to Editors:
1. The Missing: A Dangerous Truth is launching as a free online game and as a mobile app game (on Apple and Android platforms) on 3 August.
2. The Speak Up, Stay Safe micro-site is launching on 3 August. It is home to The Missing: A Dangerous Truth online game and links to the Apple and Google Play app stores. The site contains useful information about hazards, risks, rights and responsibilities at work, films and factsheets for young people and employers. It also links to the Speak Up, Stay Safe Facebook and twitter accounts
3. Speak Up, Stay Safe is a British Safety Council campaign to improve people's understanding of work-related risk - particularly the young (13-24) and those new to a job. Current research we know that young people and those new to a job are vulnerable to the consequences of poorly managed work-related risks:
* 88 young people between the ages of 16-24 were killed at work in the UK between 2005 and 2010 (this excludes any work-related transport deaths).
* Most of these fatalities were young males (84 of the 88).
* Male workers in construction and agriculture are at the highest risk (these two sectors account for almost 50% of fatalities in this age range in the UK).
* Its core message is that everyone should speak up if they are put in a position where risks to their health and safety have not been properly managed.
