November 24, 2012 in Games
[prMac.com] Reading, United Kingdom - Velvet Rock Apps has introduced Cause & Effect 1.0 for iPad, their brand new adventure game that uses both real video footage and graphics to immerse the player in a world of intrigue. Playing the part of Max Alvarez users navigate different locations and areas after Max arrives home from work only to find that things are not quite as routine as normal! Interacting with characters and objects, it's up to the player to decipher the truth.
The main game screen consists of an 'Action' area, a 'Map' tab, and an 'Areas' tab. Players can navigate their environment by tapping on the 'Areas' tab and doing so will bring up a menu that pleasantly slides up to reveal a list of areas to explore within that location. The 'Map' tab works in the same way as the 'Areas' tab and reveals a number of different locations, they are all locked except one at the start of the game. Players interact with characters by talking to them on a mobile phone or receiving text messages.
At certain intervals throughout the game 'Options' will appear and it's up to the player to decide which option to choose, this can influence how the game plays out. There are also puzzles that the player needs to figure out, such as finding a key to a summerhouse and cracking a lock code, all the clues are available but it's up to the player to piece them together. The game also includes a number of different sound effects, such as tweeting birds in the garden which further enhances the experience.
Initially the game consists of a single chapter but further chapters will be released at timed intervals. New chapters will be released via updates to the game.
There are thousands of games available for iOS and trying to stand out from the crowd and create some originality is becoming increasingly difficult. Cause & Effect offers something new to the App Store and a game that many players will enjoy. The attention to detail and amount of work that has gone into the game is clear to see and the navigation is beautifully executed. The way the video has been edited and implemented makes Cause & Effect a standout game on the App Store.
