[prMac.com] Sydney, Australia - Rocky Desk Creations has announced the launch of its debut iPhone app, GroovePond 1.0. GroovePond is a social jukebox app that lets a group of friends add their own music to a shared playlist, regardless of whose phone is connected to the speakers.
Users connect to the host's 'Pond' by just bumping devices together, where they can then add music from their own music library to the playlist. Songs are sent wirelessly to the host's iOS device and added to the shared playlist, ready for playback.
"Music is something that is both personal and social." says Dermot O'Sullivan, founder and developer of GroovePond. "We love to share our favorite music with friends, as well as discover what they're currently listening to. GroovePond was designed to make listening to music with friends a more enjoyable, streamlined experience".
GroovePond is unobtrusive - all users can browse and request music from their own music collection, as well as the host's collection. With a few taps, users can pick some songs they'd like to hear, then put their phone back in their pocket and get back to being social. Songs are added to the playlist in the background.
Users can also vote for songs in the playlist to hear them sooner, vote to skip the current song or buy any song they like, directly from the iTunes Store. Each guest always receives up-to-date information about the playlist and the current track playing.
The "Pond host" always remains in complete control. The host can play, pause, skip, seek and re-arrange tracks. The "Resident DJ" feature ensures that the music never stops; automatically adding songs to the playlist when it is empty.
