[prMac.com] Austin, Texas - Let's Bowl 2 is one of the best free bowling games around, featuring simple and precise controls that are fun and easy to learn, and which provide increasing challenges as players master different levels of alleys. Players earn bowling bucks for every point they score and every strike or spare they make, then use them to buy stuff in the ProShop, including 9 different alleys, and 34 different balls; all with their own unique attributes and weight for scoring.
With flawless 3D animation and graphics, players view the ball from an angle slightly above and behind. As the ball rolls down the lane, the view camera follows it, always maintaining a constant distance of about two feet. The camera stops about eight feet from the pins, allowing players to view the action close-up from a stationary camera. Bowlers can easily control the speed of the ball, so that it takes between 2 and 5 seconds to reach the pins.
Players throw by drawing a line from the ball toward the pins, and when they lift their finger from the screen, their throw is executed. Drawing a short line produces a high velocity, while a long line produces a lower speed. Bowlers can line up their shot by moving the ball to any point behind the foul line, from the extreme left to the extreme right. While traveling, players can hook their shot by dragging left or right, with the amount of hook dependent on the length of the drag and the speed of the ball. Players will discover that they can achieve an extreme hook easily.
Let's Bowl 2 achieves its remarkable level of realism thanks to careful design and the latest, 3D game physics engine. Unlike other bowling games, players will never see the 10 pins exhibit any behavior that does not look like the real thing. Good pin carry is the key to high scores, and this app simulates the complex collisions between pins with uncanny realism. Pins hit hard fly upward simultaneously, and pins hit by a slow moving ball are simply knocked over.
Watching pin movement closely reveals that each is capable of movement in all three axes, and that a toppled pin can spin in place, either lengthwise or around its center. Grazed pins may wobble in place, and skillful players can pick up a 7-10 split as they send one pin flying to the other side of the lane. Completing the illusion are the dozens of different sounds heard at just the right time to perfectly match the behavior of single and multiple pins.
