ClassicWeather 2.0 free for iOS now includes two sizes of weather widgets (display windows) for iPad and iPad mini. Users can switch between medium and large sizes, which allows simultaneous viewing of either three or two widgets, respectively. ClassicWeather operates in both landscape and portrait orientations, though all widgets are in portrait mode. "Many users claimed that the size of the widgets was too small. With iPad mini the problem even increased. Therefore we made the widgets bigger in general. On iPad and iPad mini the users can even choose a large size, so for everyone it should possible to read the information clearly," stated Thomas Burkli, developer at Demodit GmbH.
The bottom tab bar on each widget has two buttons, Today and 6 Days. In the default Today mode, the widget displays the most important information at the top, including: City, Current Temperature, and a Weather Graphic indicating current conditions (sunny, partly sunny, cloudy, raining, etc.). Next are the Local Time and the exact time of Sunrise and Sunset. Beneath that in a shaded bar are the current Day of the Week, Date, Expected Maximum & Minimum temperatures for the day, and the day's Precipitation Probability. Finally, the 6-Hour Forecast appears in a table with predicted Temperatures and Precipitation Probabilities for every hour.
For a long-range look at the weather, users can touch the 6 Days button, which alters the widget's display completely. Of all the data on the previous display, only the City name remains. Below is a vertical list of 6 days, including the current day. Reading from left to right, the user can view the predicted weather conditions each day, the anticipated maximum and minimum temperatures, and the precipitation probability for the day. An unusual capability is that users can choose either one or three weather condition graphics per day, and may select the time of day for each (the default setting is three graphics at 8 am, 12 noon, and 6 pm).
"The iPad does not come with a preinstalled weather app. Many people miss not having a simple app, like the iPhone app," stated Thomas Burkli. "Although there are many weather apps for the iPad, they often turn out to be too complicated with their numerous functions. ClassicWeather fills that gap. Our app provides all important weather data immediately and at a glance."
ClassicWeather supports English, Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish languages.
