[prMac.com] Silver Spring, Maryland - PicPocket Books, the artist/ illustrator Muddyum and Island Innovations have partnered to bring a new brain teaser word puzzler iPad app to Apple's iTunes app store. Muddyum's gallery-quality Wordplay images, created with hand-lettering and found-object typography, challenge general audiences.
Do you know your onions? Many of the WordPlay by Muddyum(R) puzzles depict everyday household objects or phrases. Some are idioms or figures of speech. Some are easy, some are brain teasers; all are fun! To solve each puzzle, put the material used in the images and the word shown together to guess the answer to the WordPlay.
Features of the app include original artwork, three levels of puzzle challenges, optional free hints for solving the puzzles, and an option to add additional puzzle packs with In-App-Purchase. WordPlay by Muddyum(R) has all the bells and whistles of an iOS app: Retina quality, Game Center, Apple Hosted Content with in App Purchase, iPod music, Apple Social Media, a custom keyboard, and even a Party Mode that uses Apple TV in dual screen with the iPad.
Muddyum, the artistic talent behind WordPlay by Muddyum(R), received her B.F.A. in Painting and Drawing at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2007. She moved to Georgia in 2008 to purse an M.F.A. in Illustration at The Savannah College of Art and Design. She graduated in 2010 and received the Outstanding Achievement Award in the SCAD Graduate Illustration Department. Currently, she takes Continuing Education classes at School of Visual Arts in New York City, which is where she started her Wordplay project.

Based in Silver Spring, Maryland, PicPocket Books was founded in the spring of 2009 by the husband and wife team of Lynette and Manuel Mattke, who share a passion for children's literature and technological innovation. To download any of the PicPocket Books apps, please visit the iTunes App Store and search for 'PicPocket Books.' PicPocket Books offer parents and their kids an alternative to flashy, and sometimes violent, fast-paced video games. Their book apps have some simple animations and/or interactive hot spots to encourage exploration and engagement. Overall, they strive to remain quite faithful to the original books with their apps and want to be careful not to obscure the reading experience with too much interactivity. They champion books and reading aloud to kids, and see bookapps as supplements, not replacements, for print books and the valuable time parents can spend reading with their kids. If having kids' books available on mobile devices means more exposure to stories and enthusiasm for reading for kids, then that is a success! Copyright (C) 2009-2013 PicPocket Books.
