Layer Up Sound FX with Just Swipes on Sketch Synth FX 1.0.2

in Music (F)

[] London, United Kingdom - Sketch Synth FX 1.0.2 has just been released. Adding 4 new sound banks with unique FX layouts the sound library is doubled and new completely unique sounds effects layering possibilities are achieved. 4 new sound banks are added that add to the existing dark and light sound banks to give the user warm vintage, noise, heavy bass and explosive sounds.

Not only does Sketch Synth FX 1.0.2 offer double the number of sounds that 1.0.1 does; but it also offers different FX layouts. In its previous incarnations it offered the same set of effects across 3 different sound packs. You had a chain of pitch -> low pass filter -> high pass filter -> distortion and noise -> delay -> chorus -> bypass. All of the new packs contain pitch and bypass pads which are deemed essential, the FX in the middle are a different matter though.

Shape of Sound's favourite of the FX pads is the explosives one, you have 18 different explosion sounds of which the Spitting Artillary and Raspy Morter sounds stand out as ones you can dig your teeth into using an appropriate FX chain Pitch -> Delay Rate & Ratio -> Delay Wet Dry -> Reverb Levels -> Reverb Deflections -> Low Pass Wobble -> Bypass. The Harbinger sound also gives you some pretty startling options for missile launch. Using this FX layout you can turn a single explosive one shot into a whole bombing run with you a few simple swipes on the pad.

To complement the existing Dark and Light pads I added a warmer pad, this is great when FX are used gently to warm up existing sounds into soft vintage soundscapes, of course you can really crank up the Chorus and Reverb on this one, but Shape of Sound recommend softly softly here.

If softly softly isn't your kind of thing then perhaps you would prefer working with Jagged Edge, a set of bass oriented sounds and a host of distortion effects to add a metallic and raspy edge to your sounds. In this pack hard limiters, bit crushers, gated distortion and reverb are introduced all to that effect, less of a fuzzy overdrive and more of a metallic sheen from this pad.

The final addition to the crew is the Noize pad and also the most challenging, starting with a range of noise samples from TV hiss to running water you can use a set of disparate effects to sculpt all sorts of alien sounds. Because it is harder to use it has more longevity, but the kind of results you get for creating industrial and wind noises by layering everything up are quite astonishing and there should be a prize out there for the person that creates the most interesting soundscapes with this option.

All in all, 1.0.2 is an update that not just doubles the size of the sound library; but also adds completely new opportunities to layer up effects onto your sounds, and not just with safe easy to use sounds, you can now walk on the wild side with screetching feedback and crushing distortion.
