[prMac.com] Bedford, UK - Address Book and Calendar Server supports synchronisation from the Address Book and iCal, via the local network as well as over the internet from remote locations. One can either share the entire Address Book, or a selection of groups. Similarly selected calendars can be published to the server. The contacts on the Address Book and Calendar Server is kept up-to-date, as changes are automatically synchronised in real time. Other clients can synchronisation manually or on a automatically on a scheduled basis.

All you need is a Mac running either Tiger (10.4), Leopard (10.5) or Snow Leoaprd (10.6). You don't even need OS X server, as your server can be installed on OS X, as well as Linux and Windows. Refer to the release notes for platform specific issues and details. Both PowerPC and Intel based Macs are supported to you don't have to through out your older Macs to share your contacts and events.

The contact and event records are stored in a relational database on the server. The integration potential is endless, as shared contacts can easily be accessed from a large number of platforms and application. Most modern database engines are supported, as long as they support JDBC.

Contact details can be exported to vCard and LDIF format to integrate with a number of clients. A friendly web interface allows users to access and modify their contact details via the internet. ABCMobile (Address Book Client Mobile) a native iPhone client allows read-only access to contact details stored on the server. It is currently available for free form the iTunes AppStore.

Address Book Server is dedicated to the development of quality software to facilitate the sharing of contacts, events and task.
