This is a newly launched application which can be used without phone reception or internet, and is part of an Adirondack series for hikers, bikers and paddlers. Hiking Central Adirondack Region features comprehensive trail information, along with maps, local attractions, restaurants, lodging, outfitters, campgrounds and lean-to locations. It is the mobile version of the NY Recreation Web Map and Trip Planner.
Hiking Central Adirondack Region is a newly launched application in a series of three apps developed for enjoying the central Adirondack region of New York State. Biking Central Adirondack Region and Paddling Central Adirondack Region are also available for anyone wanting to explore or visit the Adirondacks.
This app, specifically designed for hikers, offers a range of hiking trails for all levels. From easy to challenging, users simply use Hiking Central Adirondack Region to find the length of the route, how difficult it is, the elevation, where to park, trailhead information and details about which businesses, places to stay and attractions are in the surrounding area. Users will also discover campground and lean-to locations.
No phone reception or internet connection is necessary to use the application, once it has been downloaded. Each hiking trail has its own dedicated PDF document that can very quickly and easily opened, simply by tapping a trail arrow. Documents contain all of the information that a hiker or visitor to the area would need.
Supplied information is comprehensive and includes maps, which can be displayed in the user's choice of Street View, Satellite View, Hybrid View and USGS 1:24,000 Topographical View.
