[prMac.com] Putney, Vermont - IGG Software today announced the release iBank 4.5, the market-leading personal finance application for Mac. Among its many enhancements are Apple-driven security features like Sandboxing and Gatekeeper, as well as the ability to sync all account data to the much-anticipated iBank for iPad.
"Full-featured finance management entails a lot of moving parts these days," says IGG president Ian Gillespie. "That's literal in the case of iOS mobile devices, but it also means we are working hard to keep up with Apple, its operating systems, and the evolving needs of our users. We think this iBank update is a great example of pulling that all together."
Aside from some minor fixes and improvements, iBank 4.5's major enhancements include the following:
* Gatekeeper will be one of the new features in the upcoming release of OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. In response to Apple's changing security requirements, iBank 4.5 is "signed" in accordance with the new Gatekeeper Developer ID policy ensuring that apps have come from known developers.
* Sandboxing is another security measure that has migrated from iOS and the App Store to all apps being sold via the Mac App Store as well. This iBank update also meets Apple's new Sandboxing requirement to further protect users against malicious apps that access programs or data.
* Sync to iBank for iPad. Another significant new feature of iBank 4.5 will be evident with the upcoming release of iBank for iPad. Users of both apps will be able to sync all account data to iBank for iPad via Wi-Fi or custom WebDav servers for full-featured mobile finance management, including investment tracking.
iBank 4.5 is a free update to current users of iBank 4, and is available immediately via the IGG website. It has been submitted to the Mac App Store for approval.
IGG offers unlimited 30-day free trial downloads of iBank, free support (including Live Chat) and a 90-day unconditional guarantee on direct purchases from the IGG web store. The regular retail price of iBank 4 is $59.99; licensed users of iBank 3 can upgrade for $29.99. iBank 4.5 requires Mac OS X 10.6 or higher, and will run on Macs using either Intel or PowerPC processors. The latest version can be downloaded at the IGG Software website, where there is also access to a library of iBank 4 video tutorials.
