Part 1 - Animated version of the song with interactive critters that respond to touch. Part 3 - Facts about the caterpillar-to-moth/butterfly life cycle and the differences between moths and butterflies.
Why music reading?
Research shows music is a powerful learning tool and that songs are an effective way to remember information. Music literacy has clear benefits to brain development, and Fuzzy Little Caterpillar is a first step for children into the world of music.
The story of the songs:
"When I became a mother," Bures says, "I tried to teach the songs I knew to my sons, but they just didn't seem interested. So I decided to write songs for them about the things we saw and did every day." She eventually wrote a large collection of songs, including Fuzzy Little Caterpillar. These were sold to educators across the U.S. by Cherubim Music LLC.
The story of the app:
The advent of tablet technology presented the ideal opportunity to add new layers of development to her song catalog. Fuzzy Little Caterpillar is the first.
Fuzzy Little Caterpillar officially launched in January, and is now available in the iTunes app store for $2.99. Bures will give presentations about it to the Minnesota Music Educator's Meeting in Minneapolis, MN on Feb. 15, the Winona Public Library in Winona, MN on March 9, and the MN Kindergarten Conference, Litchfield MN, May 4.
Special Discount: The app will be featured at a reduced price on Appfridayparty.com on February 15.
