[prMac.com] Sydney, Australia - Sydney based Sinusoid Pty Ltd has released VideoSpeak, a new OS X App for adding synthesized speech audio tracks to existing videos and movies. Its simple operation allows a voice-over without the use of a microphone or other audio equipment.
A video is simply dragged into the VideoSpeak application, and the project name chosen. From then it's simply a matter of selecting a point in the video, selecting a voice, and typing the text you want spoken at that point. Synthesized audio is then added to the video using the selected voice.
You can use as many voices as you wish within a video - even have different voices talking to each other.
Existing background audio within the movie is automatically reduced in volume, or ducked, for each speech track added so that the speech can be heard more clearly.
Once the user has finished adding the voice tracks, the video is exported to a Quicktime movie file. The original video is never edited, it is only read and a new video produced with the new synthetic spoken voice tracks.
VideoSpeak uses Apple's Speech Synthesis system for OS X, which has a wide range of voices available as standard from the operating system. In addition to the standard voices, users can download localized voices from Apple with accents for the local language or dialect.
VideoSpeak is ideal for people producing instructional videos, for Youtube for example. The audio track can be added after the video has been produced, or during its final production.
Narration could be added to give life to vacation movies.
Novelty voices can be used to add interest to funny videos.
Using high quality synthesized voices allows standardisation on a single voice for corporate use. Any user can produce a video using the chosen voice, no need for expensive voice-overs each time a new company video is produced.
VideoSpeak operates on a wide range of original video formats, and exports to the Quicktime .mov format which is widely compatible.
* OS X 10.6 or later
