[prMac.com] Puchheim, Germany - "Much app, very party, wow!" These are just some of the comments Doge made when he heard about Boinx Software's latest endeavor: an Indiegogo campaign to launch PartySnapper. A social photo wall on steroids, PartySnapper is (or will be, with the help of generous backers) an iOS app that will truly wow party-goers around the world. To make PartySnapper a reality, Boinx has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise $20,000.
PartySnapper has both a photo-taking mode for attendees and a mode for hosting parties. Every guest at a party takes tons of pictures with their iPhones. PartySnapper transmits these instantly to the host's iPad or iPhone wirelessly, where all the photos are collected then displayed as a beautiful slideshow that plays on a TV or projector via AirPlay or cable. At the end of the party, there's no need to ask the guests to send in their photos - they've already been aggregated on the host's device. The app is super easy to use; hosts and party-goers alike should both be able to use it, even at the end of a long night of partying.
Bastian Wolfle (AKA Dr. Term T. Bowman Ph.D.) came up with the original concept for PartySnapper while planning his wedding a few years ago. "From the day we started planning in 2011, I knew I wanted to do something geeky, being the geek I am. I thought about the old disposable cameras you see at many weddings and thought it was a cool idea, but it takes days until you see the pictures, and I wanted everyone to be able to see them at the wedding."
"I figured it would be cool if, the moment our guests snapped a picture, it would be transferred and automatically displayed," he continues. Bastian was able to hack together a temporary solution, but this was far too complicated to become a thing. After months of politely requesting (read: begging) the Boinx team to build an easy-to-use app that would not require a degree in computer science, the developers finally gave in. "Luckily a couple of the guys were at my wedding so they could see how much people loved the slideshow. I like to tell myself that this convinced them PartySnapper is a great app that entertains guests and works easily."
"We have been toying around with this app idea for a long time - once Bastian persuaded us to develop it, of course. But making a great app takes a lot of effort and more often than not, an app is not appreciated by users enough to pay the developer back," states Oliver Breidenbach, CEO of Boinx Software. "In fact, development, design and marketing will take about three times more than the $20,000 campaign goal. But we are prepared to match every dollar with two of our own to make PartySnapper a reality, if backers also think this is a great idea. All we ask is that with a small (or large) contribution, you show us that our efforts will not be in vain."
Party Perks: Join Boinx at Oktoberfest - Or At Least Get a T-Shirt:
Aside from helping to make an unbelievably cool app a reality and changing the world of partying forever, Boinx is offering a number of great perks to thank backers for their generous donations. In addition to two versions of PartySnapper, campaign supporters can claim perks such as a PartySnapper T-shirt, an iPhone 5/5s case, an authentic Bavarian beer stein (limited to just 100 exclusive pieces) and much more. One level even offers two tickets to the Boinx Oktoberfest party, so one (or two separate) backers can party with Boinx for their generous donation. Special investment levels are available to Tim Cook and Mark Zuckerberg.
The PartySnapper Design Team:
The Boinx Software team knows how to make great photo and video apps. Their stop motion app "iStopMotion" won the "Macworld Best of Show" award two years in a row. Other quality apps from Boinx Software include "You Gotta See This!" and "PhotoPresenter." On the Mac side, Boinx has three Apple Design Awards to our credit, recognizing excellence in designing apps that reflect Apple's values in design and usability. Meet the core four developers responsible for PartySnapper:
Peter Kraml: This whiz kid came close to winning his own Apple Design Award last year, being recognized as one of the best student developers at the Apple World Wide Developers Conference 2013 where he went on a student scholarship awarded to him by Apple.
Max Christ: The apps that owe him their existence go into the hundreds. Most recently, he was the driving force behind the Leica T app that we developed in cooperation with Leica.
Peter Schlossnikel: His signature design graces all of the Boinx products, our website and other top selling apps on the app store.
Kerstin Wolfle: If she hadn't allowed her husband Bastian (aka Dr. Term T. Bowman) to create and try a prototype of PartySnapper at their wedding, it wouldn't exist. Bastian is also PartySnapper product manager.
These four are supported by the amazing Boinx Software staff. Check out our Team page for the full cast and crew.
