In this backdrop, Dr. Kalyan's Pirates of Bollywood, his second in the IP law thriller series, fictionalizes and dramaticizes the ongoing war between producers, pirates and police. Arjun, the protagonist from Dr. Kalyan's first work, Road Humps and Sidewalks, a drug patent thriller, gets drawn into a fierce war between producers and pirates, putting his life in great danger.
Talking about his second novel, Dr. Kalyan said, "Piracy is a way of life in India. Against the odds of stringent laws, and enforcement systems, the piracy business manages to survive and prosper. I have always wondered if there is much more in piracy than meets the eye. Pirates of Bollywood gives wings to some of my wild conspiracy theories about the linkages between piracy, film production and crime."
